  • Twenty Eighteen Resolutions + Printable

I really love to reflect back + look forward when one year ends and another begins. It brings perspective and helps me grow. Every year, I really enjoy writing out one sentence prompts of things I want to strive towards.

    Here's what I said for 2018:

    Do the next right thing

It's one of those coined phrases but on days where I feel overwhelmed, it really helps to say this to myself. Just do the next right thing. One step at a time towards days filled with doing the right thing. Maybe it's laundry instead of instagram, maybe it's a nap instead of laundry.

    Try Staying Organized

As a flighty, right-brained creative, I drive the struggle bus on this one. But I'm gonna keep on trying. Give me  all the lists and calendars.

Enjoy holding my babies at bedtime

I caught myself rushing through bedtime a lot last year. Just ready for some free time. I want to savor their littleness and hold them a little longer and little tighter.

    Create community around me

Invite more people over. Fill my table more often. Be intentional.

    Go somewhere new

For our 10 year anniversary hopefully!

    Give my time more generously

This may not be my season to be a big financial giver but that doesn't mean I can't be generous. I want to see and meet needs by being generous with my time.

    Start praying, stop worrying

Meaning stop worrying in it's tracks by praying.

    Be present and engaged

Stick to my office hours and really enjoy my people when I'm not working.

    Accept my season

And flourish and grow where I am. In motherhood, in marriage, in friendships, in location.

    Spend my time wisely

The overall underlying theme for me.

And my word to focus on this year is: Joy

Choose it. Be it. Spread it.

  • Holiday Home Tour (With Bonus Printable)

Welcome to our home! Grab a cup of cocoa and come on in!

When it comes to Christmas decor, I try to go more wintery instead of in-your-face Christmas.

This is so I make less work for myself in January. The tree is the main attraction of course.

And those white twinkling lights up the cozy factor by, like, 1000x.

My son Grady added this Santa hat to the TV and it's probably my favorite touch to this room.

Switching out the colors and the art helps set the tone for me.

p.s. I'm sharing this You Warm my Heart printable at the end of this post!

I shared about this Mother Embrace art piece in another blog post but I felt it was still perfect for Christmas decor thinking about Mary and Baby Jesus. That story just does wonders to my mama heart.

I'm a little non-traditional when it comes to our tree too. A pom-pom blanket for a tree skirt and a homemade ribbon ball tree topper. No two ornaments are the same on our tree and they all hold the dearest memories.

Making Christmas fun for the boys is such a joy for me.

They've enjoyed doing our Advent Calendar each day.

And our Christmas books are being read on repeat.

Our dining room didn't change too much from fall to winter. I did add some seasonal and festive touches and rearranged my shelves.

    Felt Like Sharing Letter Board

I pretty much keep the Christmas decor to our main living areas. Adding it everywhere is just too much for me. I do super small touches like the mistletoe in our bedroom.

Or a few Santas in the kitchen.

But my favorite thing to do in our house at Christmas is share it with people we love.

    With festive dinners,

    Hot Cocoa bars,

     Felt Like Sharing Letter Board

and just sweet times spent together.

So while of course I want my boys to remember us baking cookies together, being granted all their requests for hot cocoa, dancing to Christmas records, and watching Christmas movies by Christmas tree light, I really just want them to remember a home filled with love because of the One who first loved us.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas!

  • Beautiful Handmade Gifts in 10 Minutes Tops

It happens every year, doesn't it? You get in a pinch and you need a last minute gift!

Well I'm here to give you two simple but beautiful gifts that take less than 10 minutes to make!

First up is this simple sugar scrub. A good sugar scrub helps to soften and exfoliate even the toughest skin like on your feet, knees and elbows. The older I get the more I love a good bath and good bath products so this is a great gift to me!

    DIY Sugar Scrub

    Ingredients:

    1/2 C Course organic sugar

1/4 C coconut oil (slightly melted)

10-15 drops of essential oil (I used Vitruvi Eucalyptus Oil)

    Directions:

Mix sugar and coconut oil together, add in drops of EO and mix again

Yep, it's that easy. Now put it in a cute little container and it's ready to gift!

ORRRRR take your packaging up a notch by adding an easy DIY wire ornament!

This is another seriously less than 10 minute investment and looks so cute when

    added to gifts!

The sky is the limit with these! You can make any word or name you want!

I used Artistic Wire 18 gauge in Brass for mine. It was $2.99 at Hobby Lobby and I had a 50% off coup so only $1.50 and I made 6 ornaments and still have about half the spool left!

I just free handed mine but if you don't feel confident in your cursive letters, just print some out on a sheet of paper and use it as a guide for yourself!

Make sure to add a small loop to each end of your word if you're wanting to add a ribbon hanger!

And here you have the two gifts combined! Easy, affordable and super cute!

Wanna make this gift a bit more substantial? Throw in some extra Vitruvi Essential oils

and this recipe so they can continue to make their own sugar scrubs!

  • Tried & Tested: Gift Guide for Him

I spent the first couple years of marriage striking out hard in the gifts department for my guy.

We're both into giving surprise gifts and not just handing each other a list. But a surprise is only really great if the person likes it, hah! So I'm here to save any of you other surprise gift-givers with some tried and true gifts I've given my husband that he has LOVED.

    1. Eno Hammock

Whether your guy is a hiker or not, this is such a great gift. My husband hangs it in our backyard during the summer and reads. I love to snag it every once in awhile myself. And we can seriously both comfortably sleep in there, nice and cozy.

Also if you don't mind it in a different color pattern this one is only $34!

    2. Stanley Heritage Thermos

This thermos gets so much use. When my guy is headed out for a full day, I love to brew him some coffee and fill it to the brim. It keeps it warm all day for him! Your guy not into coffee? It keeps soups warm all day too!

    3. J.Crew Classic Flannel

You really cannot beat a guy in a classic flannel. And J.Crew makes the classiest ones around in my opinion. And if you shop the Factory, it's only $29!

    4. Traditional Safety Razor

My guy is sort of an old soul, so this traditional safety razor is right up his alley. Wanna make it extra special? Get it engraved with something sweet!

    5. Jord Wood Watch

I swear, I have never seen a man get more compliments than when he wears this watch. I get it though, it really is stunning especially when you realize it's made completely out of wood! This is extra special for my husband because he's a woodworker so it fits him perfectly.

Also I have a code for you guys to get 25% off ANY Jord wood watch so

just follow this link to save dat money!

    6. Pair of Theives Dad + Kid Socks

I mean, does it get any cuter than matching Dad + Kid stuff?

    7. Stumptown Coffee

Good coffee is always a good idea.

    8. Herschel Supply Co. Travel Kit

Whether he's going out of town or just showering after the gym, help your guy travel in style and keep all his things together.

    9. Classic Macalister Boots

These boots have held up so well for my man and they are so easy to dress up or dress down.

    10. Sudio Wireless Headphones

These headphones are such great quality and make it so easy to just sync with your phone and listen to music or podcasts. Use code HONEYSUCKLE for 15% off.

Maybe a subscription to Apple Music to go with?

    11. Leather Magic Wallet

This slim wallet was a game changer for my guy. He loves to travel light and this little wallet surprisingly holds a lot!

    12. Camp Style Coffee Mug

A manly mug if I ever did see one. He can heat it over the fire or warm it on the stove.

So there you have it. Some tried and tested gifts by yours truly.

Give your man something he won't return this year!

  • Festive Halloween Treats

Life should be celebrated. That's my motto.

And I'm always looking for little ways to show my kids that.

For that to be apart of my legacy.

It doesn't have to be expensive or elaborate. Just a small effort on my part to make their day a little special is so huge I think.

So here are a few super easy ways to make some festive Halloween treats for your kids that I've done over the years and get rave reviews from the Goodman boys.

Get some Ghost Peeps and top them in some hot cocoa...

Or prop them up in some pudding snacks!

Buy some edible Googley eyes to stick in some whipped cream topping...

Or to make Rice Krispie Monsters with!

Just dip the tops of rice krispie treats in colored icing and let the kids add eyes!

Turn an apples + pb snack into a funny mouth treat with a few marshmallow teeth!

Or make classic apple nachos with caramel, nuts and chocolate chips!

    Happy Halloween week snacking!

  • Mini Pumpkin Pies + Pumpkin Recipe Round Up

First of all you guys know how I feel about making cute pies.

But I'm that girl that when I go to the dessert table at a party, I just want a taste of everything.

(Okay, and then to go back for more of the thing I loved the most.)

These mini pumpkin pies are just perfect for that. And for the person who LOVES pumpkin pie the most, just take 5 with no regrets. You do you.

These look sorta schmancy, but they're super easy.

Also, everything is cuter in mini form, am I right?

And here's how the recipe goes down:

Get your canned pumpkin, your store bought pie dough, and your cute cookie cutters out.

(My recipe calls for pumpkin but I accidentally grabbed pumpkin pie mix so just do whatever works for you)

Roll out your dough and grab your circle cutter.

Ideally you need a 3-4" circle. A wide mouth mason jar is a perfect sub if you don't already own one.

    Cut out 12 circles.

Spray your muffin tin and fill with your mini doughs.

Whip up your pumpkin mixture (recipe below) and fill each dough 3/4 full.

With the extra dough left over, use your mini cookie cutters to cut out your desired pie garnishes.

Bake at 400 for 30 minutes

Things I've learned the hard way:

Don't fill them too full or they bake over and do little burnt edges as seen here.

Put your garnishes on half way through baking if you don't want them overdone.

Let cool completely before you plate to serve.

And they taste best shared with friends. :)

     Mini Pumpkin Pies

     Ingredients

    - 1 can of pumpkin (15 oz)

    - 2 eggs

    - 1 can of sweetened condensed milk

    - 1 tsp salt

    -1 tbsp pumpkin pie spice

    - 2 store bought pie crusts

    Directions

    - Preheat oven to 400

-Combine pumpkin, milk, eggs, salt, and pumpkin pie spice

    - Using a circular cookie cutter or jar lid, cut 12 circles. Ideally you need at 3-4" circle.

    - Using mini cookie cutters, cut out cute garnishes

    - Add pie crusts to muffin tin

    - Add pie filling to 3/4 full

-Bake at 400 for 30 minutes

    - Add garnishes half way through baking for lighter color

    Enjoy!

  • Mini Rosemary Wreaths

Making people feel special when they come over for dinner at my house is always my goal.
I show people I love them through crafting, I can't help it.
So when my small group at church decided to do a Friendsgiving Dinner together, I was
delighted. This was the very reason I asked Josh to build us a 12-person farmhouse table, so
I could fill it up with people.
I had seen a few ideas of mini wreaths floating around on pinterest and
was excited to try my hand at some.
And lucky day for me when I had a friend who let me snip some of his overgrown rosemary!
So the wreath part is pretty self-explanatory:
Get a sprig of rosemary and bend it into a circle.
I tied a knot with a piece of twine and then topped it with a pre-made bow.

The banner part looks a little trickier, but it's really not.
    Check it:
    Cut a strip of paper

Make two folds the same size as the width of your wreath

Fold the side flaps in half again

Press it down and snip the ends to make them prettier

    Write your guest's name

Then tuck it around the wreath.
    Done and done.

And here they are in action,

These would be so cute with a little red bow for Christmas!
  • Printable Advent Calendar

Advent is upon us. The season of anticipation, of waiting, for the Hope of the world to come.
That's why I get behind Advent calendars so much. Because I think there's much to be said about really soaking in the anticipation. Counting down the days until we celebrate the day the weary world did rejoice and gets to again and again.
I started dreaming up this design last year because I knew the boys would be at good ages to
participate. So our days alternate between a Scripture reading and a Christmas activity.
What I love about it is that you can totally make it your own. Write down whatever traditions are important for your family!
I had fun thinking up ideas to write down but the Scriptures are so important to me too.
Every year my kids are able to soak in the real meaning of Christmas more and more and
that makes my heart so excited!
Since this Advent Calendar is really for the boys, I like to put it right int he heart of their playroom.
Last year I gave them their own little tree if you will.
String them together like a banner, washi tape them to the wall like a tree, or just keep them in a little basket at the breakfast table! Sky's the limit with these cards!
This calendar is available for purcahse through my shop!
And here are some more ideas if you're drawing a blank for what to write on them:
    Wrap Christmas Presents
    Make Special Cocoa
Get Cocoa and Go See Christmas Lights
Put on a Christmas record and Dance
    Dinner by Fireside
    Watch a Christmas Movie
    Give an unexpected Gift
    Read a Christmas Book
Give an unexpected gift to someone in Need
    Bake Christmas Cookies
    Give Cookies to the Neighbors
    Sing your Favorite Carol
    Kiss Under the Mistletoe
Smile at a Stranger and Say Merry Christmas
You can also tape little gifts or candy to them if you like to add in that sort of thing!
